Peter’s Pence aid the children of the pediatric hospital in Bangui
From May 2016 in Bangui, the doctors and technicians of the Bambino Gesù hospital in Rome support the only pediatric hospital present in Central Africa, in collaboration with the University of Bangui and local authorities.
In May 2016, some urgent interventions were started to allow a decent functioning of the structure and continuity of care: purchase of a generator and a transformer for electricity, activation of the sewage system, renovation of the laundry, and renovation of the University library room for distant learning.
We then proceeded to recruit 16 general practitioners. The following interventions are currently underway: the restructuring of 3 departments (chronic diseases and malnutrition) with furnishings and equipments; the subsidization of 20 scholarships for 20 specialization students; the contribution to the purchase of medicines; distant learning for health personnel, medical students and specialization students; an internship in Italy for betterment of new graduates and professors of the Faculty of Medicine of Bangui.
